Older Baby/Younger Toddler Gift Ideas

Babies are very easy to shop for relative to older kids, yet I’ve put off buying stuff for Abe the longest. I’m more or less finished with the older kids, and it was surprisingly easy this year (umm, partly because they all agreed on sharing a Wii U for their big gift, so they’re not getting a whole lot else).

But even with the help of Amazon Prime’s two day shipping, I can’t put off shopping for Abe forever (although I guess he probably wouldn’t really know the difference if everyone except him had presents to open. But that would be really tragic). So here’s what I’m thinking about at the moment for my about to turn one year old’s first Christmas:
toddler presents
1. Skip Hop Giraffe Safari Nest and Play Blocks (affiliate link): . $20Oh, looks like I picked the turtle picture….the giraffes are on the other side, I guess. I like these because they’re adorable and also because it looks like there’s a lot you can do with them (if you are a toddler)….stack them, nest them, put the balls in and out….
2. Mama and Baby! (Indestructibles) (affiliate link): $4.45. I was sold on these as soon as I saw “indestructible.” Ordinary board books are no match for Abe.
3.Plan Toy Punch and Drop (affiliate link): $18.99. I think Abe would enjoy pounding on something with a hammer, and I’ve always liked Plan Toys.
4.Turn Turn Turn (affiliate link): $9.79. I love Dan Zanes. I am determined that Abe will love him, too. And he’s a very musical baby and all, so I think I have a good shot at this.
5.Counting Koi Blocks (affiliate link): $50. I don’t think Abe is really getting these, because they’re quite spendy, but they sure are pretty.
6. Skip Hop Bath Spout Cover (affiliate link): $12.99 I think we’re past due for this one; Dave mostly gives Abe his baths, but every time I do it or watch him getting one, I have visions of him splitting his head open on the spout. And we already have the other Skip Hop whale themed bath stuff, so probably we need this, too.
7. Silk Oak Owl Shirt on Etsy:  $16. Abe already has this shirt, plus their chicken t-shirt. But I really like their stuff, and he might just need something else. I feel that first Christmases when babies don’t know much about Christmas are the perfect opportunities for buying them adorable clothes that you want to see them in.
8.American Apparel Infant Cardigan (affiliate link): $16.50. I really like American Apparel stuff for babies (the Silk Oak baby stuff uses American Apparel); Gus lived in their long sleeved Ts and karate pants when he was little.
9. Baby Leggings from Precious Goodes on Etsy: $26.00. People sell lots and lots of adorable baby leggings on Etsy. Here is but one example.

  1. This is a fantastic collection friend! I am totally going to steal a couple of these for my Norah bean!!! Number 1 and 3 are for sure on her list now! I hope you have a lovely weekend!!!!

  2. I’m with Kim and loving the spout cover. We used to have the duck spout cover which is boring. A whale is so much cooler!

  3. Great choices. My little one would love anything with a ball or something that he can make noise with. 🙂 We totally need that spout cover, but it doesn’t fit on our original 60s bath spout.

  4. Your facebook post makes so much sense now. I can totally see that you are completely missing the mark by not having any electrical wires or toilet paper rolls on this list 🙂 All kidding aside … I can see Abe being happy with this list too 😉 And the wrapping paper – let’s not forget. Actually, if you really love him you will wrap his presents in cellophane, then wrapping paper 🙂
