Hope everyone (well, everyone in the US, at any rate) is having a great holiday weekend!
We finally made it to the fireworks Friday night for the first time in a few years. Two years ago we were out of town (in a town with no fireworks!) and last year we had a itty bitty baby, and it was pouring rain.
But THIS year! This year not only were there clear skies (and unseasonably beautifully coolish weather), but our city moved the fireworks to a park close enough for us to walk to. No parking or traffic to worry about!
We had a few friends over for burgers and a fruit flag (thanks, Pinterest!):
And then we headed over to the park. We had some frozen yogurt and played on the playground while we waited for it to get dark:
(We picked up these chairs at Home Depot because our old ones had fallen victim to the cats. It was a dollar cheaper to get the bright orange Home Depot logo-ed ones, so we got those. Because we’re cheap. Also it looks like we forgot to take the tags off).
I dragged the real camera and my tripod with me in an attempt to get some decent fireworks pictures. And….well….
Kids who weren’t Abe loved the fireworks, loved being there with friends, and had a great time. Abe had a…mostly good time. He wasn’t sure the fireworks were the best idea, but he wasn’t utterly terrified by them, either, so I guess we’ll call it a win.
Wow those fireworks pictures are amazing!! If I come over on Sunday, can you remake that flag? 😉
Sure! Just bring 4 overripe bananas with you, and I’ll make it happen 😉
ha ha- “kids who weren’t abe”.
the photos are amazing!
Thanks, Cassie!
Looks like a win to me friend! Love the kids just having a blast! And Mr. Abe is a doll! Wonderful job on those firework photos and those kabobs look yummy! Happy week to you Gretchen! Nicole xoxo
Looks like a great time. Saw the fruit flag on Instagram. Looks so yummy.
Your firework photos are amazing! Love them. Glad Abe wasn’t terrified of the fireworks.
Wow I LOVE those fireworks pictures. They are so great. I had good luck with my settings, but my problem was that the lake we went to had mostly small ugly fireworks… Now I want to go somewhere where the fireworks are better next time 🙂
Abe is getting so tall!
Boo on small, ugly fireworks!
