Just a quick update on Milo and Gus’s room today, because I love these chairs! And so do they.
We needed chairs for the desks under the Stuva loft beds, and Milo and Gus both really, really wanted the spinning variety of office chair, so that they could roll across the floor constantly and make lots of noise right over our heads, even though we bought the more expensive underlayment that’s supposed to be so soundproof.
But they look really cool.
I googled mid-century office chair and found these Carson Carrington ones on Overstock. I’m sorry to have to tell you that I bought the last ones, and now they only have white available. But maybe they’ll get more black ones soon? Anyway, they were around $100 each; looks like if they’re in stock at assorted places, you can possibly find them as low as $80. But I could not.
They have excellent reviews, both from the folks on Overstock and from Milo and Gus. And apparently they were really easy to put together, because they arrived while I was out one morning and the kids had already opened them up and assembled them by the time I got home. The style fits in really well with the room, but the wood tones also add a little warmth.
In other Gus and Milo room news, I tried out a rug in here and everyone hated it. We have this shag room in the office half of our bedroom:
…which it turns out was too big for the available space in Milo and Gus’s room. And it left them not nearly enough room for rolling across the floor in their new chairs. So it had to go. I think I’ve said this before, but I’m really relieved I didn’t buy a rug before we got the beds in there, because I would have bought something much too big. I still want something, but I’m not sure what. There’s this big empty space, though, where the beds are not:
And I want some kind of reading area there with maybe some beanbag chairs and smaller rug.
I’m hoping to sit down this weekend and figure out the rest of the plan so we can call this space finished. It will involve pictures on that empty wall there, some desk accessories, maybe a small shelf next to their lofted beds for a clock, a book or two, that kind of thing.
The art for the walls is already here, but I haven’t made it out to get frames yet.
I’m keeping things minimalist in here, though. They’ve started filling up the shelves at the ends of the beds with books, but there’s a ton of room on them. They were commenting today on how much easier it is to clean their room now (we’ll see how long that lasts!) One absolutely wonderful feature of the Stuva beds is that their dirty laundry baskets fit neatly in the wardrobes. This is very exciting.
We have just a few more weeks before our summer trip, so I’m trying to figure out the best ways to use our last few weekends. There are so many projects we could do!
Oh I love that chair! It looks so good and expensive!
